ZoMaxx™, Abbott’s investigational Drug-Eluting Coronary Stent System demonstrated 100% procedural success, no major adverse cardiac events and minimal late lumen loss (vessel diameter loss) in the first human clinical trial (4-month period) conducted to evaluate the safety and performance of ZoMaxx™ for the treatment of coronary artery disease.

Results of the study are encouraging because they demonstrated that controlled release of zotarolimus minimized neointimal proliferation [tissue growth inside the vessel] over the first four months following stent implantation. Abbott is looking forward to deliver its commitment to bring the new ZoMaxx™ drug-eluting stent system to market, in the hope of significantly advancing the treatment of coronary artery disease.
