
Array BioPharma Inc.'s new drug candidate for the inflammatory disease enters Phase 1 clinical trials in the US.
The molecule, designated as ARRY-438162, is a novel MEK inhibitor, which has been shown in preclinical studies to interfere with a protein kinase (MEK) that drives uncontrolled inflammation associated with various human diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ad inflamatory bowel disease.
ARRY-438162 is Array's novel proprietry molecule; its first MEK inhibitor, ARRY-142886, was licensed to AstraZeneca AB for cancer and is currently in clinical development.
