
Omnitrop, the first biosimilar or biogeneric drug to be commercialized in the EU has just been given the green light in
“Biosimilar medicines offer new opportunities both for the growth of our generic industry and for the control of national healthcare expenditure,” said industry commissioner Günter Verheugen.
“Nevertheless, these complex products must comply with the same rigorous standards for quality, safety and efficacy as for any other medicine, for the benefit of European patients.”
Omnitrop (Somatropin) is indicated for the treatment of growth disturbance in children (over 3 years and adolescents with growth hormone insufficiency) will be first commercialized in Germany and then in Austria. After
