
Bangalore-based Biocon plans to launch , a novel monoclonal antibody for the treatment of head and neck cancer by the end of the year. Clinical trials have been completed and the company will file for regulatory approval at the Drug Controller General of India (DGCI) next month.
BIOMAb EGFR is engineered to specifically target and block the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) responsible for the proliferation of cancer cells. BIOMAb EGFR will spearhead Biocon Biopharmaceuticals' foray into proprietary products for cancer therapy in India.
Biocon also plans to eventually market the drug in Europe and US through alliance partners.
