MEDI-545 is MedImmune’s monoclonal antibody (MAb) targeting interferon-alpha being developed for the potential treatment of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE or lupus), a chronic inflammatory disease that causes the body to attack its own tissues and organs, including the skin, joints, blood and kidneys.
On 13th April, MedImmune (Nasdaq: MEDI)announced that it has started the Phase 1 clinical trial that will evaluate the safety and tolerability of MEDI-545 in lupus patients.
MEDI-545 came about with MedImmunes’ collaboration with Medarex, Inc. in 2004. Under their terms of agreement, MedImmune is responsible for all ongoing clinical development activities.
