Prograf® (tacrolimus), is indicated for the prophylaxis of organ rejection in patients receiving a kidney and liver transplant in the and has been marketed in North America, Europe and . Prograf® is also commercially available worldwide, in approximately 70 countries.
Recently, the USFDA granted approval to Astellas Pharma US, Inc. to use Prograf® as an immunosuppressant to prevent organ rejection in patients who have received a heart transplant, the third organ transplant indication in which Prograf® has received FDA approval.
The heart indication for Prograf® is a milestone for Astellas Pharma US, Inc. which coincides with the one year anniversary of its formulation after the 2005 merger between Fujisawa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
