According to the results of a Phase IIIb clinical trial, Shire plc’s methylphenidate transdermal system (MTS), DAYTRANA™, is significantly efficient in reducing the symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children aged 6 to 12 years during shorter wear times than the recommended nine hour wear time. In addition, the effect of the mediation significantly decreased with patch removal.
DAYTRANA™, the first and only patch medication for ADHD, has been approved by the USFDA on April 6, 2006 for once-daily use to treat ADHD in children aged 6 to 12 years.
DAYTRANA™ which was developed by Noven Pharmaceuticals, Inc. combines the active ingredient methylphenidate, with Noven's patented DOT Matrix™ transdermal technology, a delivery system designed to provide continuous medication release throughout the day while the patch stays on during a child’s normal daily activities.
