It has been two years since a couple of FDA Advisory Committees and scientists agreed that Plan B emergency contraception is safe and effective for over the counter use, up to present, FDA officials haven’t acted on this matter yet.
Plan B contraception containing a high dose of a hormone used in birth control pills and women still need a prescription to use it.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists are not very happy with the FDA’s blocking of the over-the-counter sales of Plan B contraception which they believe is a “despicable treatment of women”.
