In lieu of the new study results stating that even the short-term use of the painkiller Vioxx® increases the risks of heart attack in older people; Merck & Co., the maker of Vioxx® may be facing new Vioxx lawsuits as reported at CNN Health.
The study by researchers at McGill University Medical Centre in
Montreal found that a "small proportion" of patients using Vioxx had their first heart attack soon after starting on the drug, which Merck pulled from the market in September 2004.
