
A new technology will enable pharmaceutical companies to determine more effectively and earlier on the onset of clinical trials if an experimental drug is toxic to the heart.
Such a technology is now gearing towards the market with the signing of University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) and iCardiac Technologies, Inc. in an exclusive agreement to commercialize the sofatware that as developed by biomedical engineer Jean-Philippe Couderc, Ph. D.
The software known as COMPAS (standing for Comprehensive Analysis of Repolarization Signal) provides a more accurate and reliable method to analyze data from electrocardiograms (ECG) and other types of heart monitors to determine whether a drug is toxic to the heart.
