ISTA Pharmaceuticals has acquired rights to two of Senju Pharmaceuticals, Co.'s drug candidates for the treatment of glaucoma, a chronic disease that, according to the Glaucoma Research Foundation, is the second leading cause of blindness. Senju's lead candidates licensed by ISTA are iganidipine, a calcium channel blocker, and a new formulation of latanoprost, a prostaglandin.

ISTA will be resposible for the development of the two drug candidates for the North American market, including the applications for regulatory approvals, manufacturing and marketing.
