German firm SCHWARZ PHARMA has submitted a variation application for Neupro® (active ingredient: Rotigotine) to the European Medicines Agency (EMEA).
Neupro is a transdermal patch for the treatment of advanced stage Parkinson's disease. The drug has been approved as a monotherapy for early stage Parkinson's diseae earlier this year, and has already been launched in Germany, UK and Austria.
Phase III clinical trial results showed that the drug was able to singificantly reduce "off" time and increase "on" time without troublesome dyskinesia .
