The results of a Phase 2 study with Introgen Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: INGN)’s ADVEXIN therapy in the treatment of women with locally advanced breast cancer has been published in Cancer, the journal of the American Cancer Society.
In the said clinical trial, ADVEXIN was combined with chemotherapy in order to shrink the tumor prior to surgical removal, resulting to greater than 50% reduction of tumor in all of the subject patients.
The results of the study conducted at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center by Dr. Massimo Cristofanilli, associate professor in the Department of Breast Medical Oncology, proved to be better than what would be expected from chemotherapy treatment alone.
ADVEXIN, a p53 tumor suppressor, is a targeted molecular therapy with broad applicability in a wide range of tumor types and clinical settings associated with cancer initiation, progression and treatment resistance.
