1) Ceelin® (Ascorbic Acid)/Vitamin C

Ascorbic Acid (Ceelin®) is indicated for the prevention and treatment of Vitamin C deficiency in children , it increases body resistance to stress and infections and hastens recovery from illnesses and the healing of wounds, also indispensable in the formation and maintenance of firm and healthy gums, teeth, cartilages, osteoid tissues, blood vessels and connective tissues.

Ceelin® is manufactured by United Laboratories, Inc. for PEDIATRICA, Inc.

2) Loviscol® (Carbocisteine) 100 mg/5 ml Pediatric Syrup

Carbocisteine (loviscol) is used as an adjunctive therapy for chronic disorders of the respiratory tract associated with excessive or viscous mucus, such as chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and otitis media with effusion including glue ear.

Loviscol is a product of Wyeth Consumer Healthcare, A division of Wyeth (Philippines ) Inc.

 

3) Calpol 6 Plus™ (Paracetamol) 250 mg/5 ml Suspension (Analgesic/Antipyretic)

I highly recommend Calpo™ products, I find it to have the fastest effectivity in   bringing down high fever in infants and toddlers compared to other paracetamol brands (i.e. Tempra®, Biogesic® (for kids))

4) Septrin® (Co-trimoxazole) 200 mg/40 mg per 5 ml (Pediatric Suspension, Antibacterial)

A product of GlaxoSmithKline indicated for gastrointestinal infections.

5) Keplex® (Cefalexin) 250 mg/5 ml powder for suspension (antibacterial, bubblegum flavor)

Cefalexin is indicated for the treatment of the following infections when caused by susceptible strains of the following microorganisms:

Respiratory tract infections caused by S. pneumoniae and group A beta-hemolytic streptococci.

Bacterial sinusitis caused by streptococci, S. pneumoniae and S. aureus (methicillin-snesitive only).

Otitis media due to S. pneumoniae, H. Influenza, staphylococci, streptococci and N. Catarrhalis .

Skin and soft tissue infections caused by staphylococci and/or streptococci.

Bone and joint infections caused by staphylocci and/or P. mirabilis.

Genitourinary tract infections including acute prostatitis caused by E.coli, P. mirabilis and Klebsiella sp.

Dental infections caused by staphylococci and/or streptococci.

6) Ventolin™ (Salbutamol) 2 mg/5 ml Syrup (Orange Flavor)

Salbutamol is an effective bronchodilator, a selective beta2 adrenoceptor agonist suitable for the management and prevention of asthma. It is also indicated for the relief of bronchospasm in bronchial asthma of all types, chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

7) Virlix™ (Cetirizine Dihydrochloride) 1 mg/ml Oral Solution (Antihistamine/Anti-allergy)

Cetirizine Dihydrochloride is indicated for the treatment of perennial rhinitis, seasonal allergic rhinitis, chronic idiophatic urticaria and allergic conjunctivitis.

As younger children are more prone to seasonal attacks of bronchial conditions, the above combination (Keplex®, Ventolin™, Virlix™) are most commonly prescribed by pediatricians.

8) CLARITIN® (Loratadine) 5 mg/5 ml Syrup (Antihistamine)

Schering-Plough Corporation’s Claritin products are indicated for the relief and symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis, such as sneezing, nasal discharge (rhinorrhea) and itching, as well as ocular itching and burning. Claritin products are also indicated for relief of symptoms and signs of chronic urticaria and other allergic dermatologic disorders.
