Curcumin, an active compound in turmeric, has been known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. Researchers from UCLA/VA found that curcumin may help the immune system clear the brain of the amyloid beta plaques found in Alzheimer's disease patients.
The findings have recently been published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease which may lead to a new approach in treating Alzheimer's disease by enhancing the natural function of the immune system using curcumin.
