H. Lundbeck A/S’ Cipralex® (escitalopram), Approved in Europe for Treatment of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
Based on H. Lundbeck A/S (CPH: LUN)' two pivotal studies that have shown Cipralex® to be effective and well-tolerated in the treatment of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), the product has recently been approved in Europe for such indication.
The 10th leading cause of disability of all medical conditions in the industrialised world, OCD is a chronic disorder that is characterised by recurrent, distressing thoughts and impulses (obsessions) and/or repetitive behaviours or compulsions.
According to Professor Joseph Zohar, Division of Psychiatry, Sheba Medical Center, Tel Aviv, Israel and President of the International College of Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders (ICOCS):
