
The method, spatially offset Raman spectroscopy, can analyze through paper packaging, plastic containers, capsule shells, and tablet coatings to verify the ingredients in a pharmaceutical product.
This novel method of detection will enable non-invasive verification. Usually drug packages have to be opened and analyzed. But once they’ve been opened, they cannot be marketed anymore.
The right question I guess regarding this new method is: how accurately this compares to the good old analytical methods, both qualitatively and quantitatively?
We all do not want fake drugs to pass inspection, do we?
