Chemokine Therapeutics Corp. (TSE:CTI) is a biotechnology company developing chemokine-based therapies to treat cancer, blood disorders, and vascular disease.
CTE- 9908 is the company’s anti-cancer drug candidate - a peptide analog of the Chemokine SDF-1, and an antagonist of its receptor, CXCR4.
SDF-1 is the only known naturally occurring chemokine that binds to CXCR4 – a binding process believed to be critical in angiogenesis and in the metastasis (or spread) of cancer cells to distant locations in the body.
CTCE-9908 is believed to interfere with the metastatic process of cancers by both preventing them to spread and blocking the blood supply to the cancer cells.
Results of CTE-9908 Phase Ib/II clinical trial demonstrated positive preliminary data and the successful completion of the dose-escalation portion of the trial where no dose limiting toxicities have been observed in any of the caner patients.
