Users of the following Abbott Laboratories manufactured glucose meters: Precision Xtra™, Optium™, ReliOn® Ultima, Rite Aid® and Kroger® are being warned that dropping the units on a hard surface could cause improper function of the display screens. Units manufactured after January 31, 2007 are affected and Abbott has initiated a worldwide correction.
Abbott is suggesting that users keep their units in the provided wallet to ensure maximum protection and to perform a regular meter display check. Instructions for the check are provided in the meter’s Users Guide. If you have encountered problems with your glucose meter, stop using it immediately and call Abbott Diabetes Care customer service at 1-877-844-4404.
