I ran across some great new medical gadgets that deserve some attention and fortuantely the've been covered by some great blogs so there's no need for me to repeat everything just need to point you in the right direction.
To start is the Wheezogram™: Audio Analysis for Monitoring of Asthma. Medgadget describes this as a
"diagnostic system which listens to the wheezing sounds asthmatics make while breathing, analyzes their signatures, and provides feedback whether particular sounds indicate a more acute condition. Audio sensors are worn around the neck and chest, and are connected to the proprietary WIM-PC platform, which does the audio analysis."
Next up is SunTech Medical's New Blood Pressure Product. The SunTech website describes it as:
"The SunTech 247 Diagnostic Station provides both an affordable replacement for mechanical gauges and mercury sphygmomanometers and the potential of a vital signs device without the expense. With our modular design, start with blood pressure and add other parameters such as temperature and SpO2 when needed."
And lastly is the new mammogram system from Argonne Laboratory. Medgear has a great description.
"Ultra-High Resolution Mammography System uses a glass-ceramic plate, which is transparent to lessen scattering of light and a readout device, designed specifically to increase the efficiency of the glass-ceramic plates. The plates made from photo stimulating phosphor have many advantages over the traditional photographic films."
Interesting stuff, give em a peek!
