
Thomson Scientific has issued its quarterly "The Ones to Watch" report which lists the five most promising drugs in the pharmaceutical pipeline.
Most Promising Drugs from July - September 2007
- Exelon TDS - a transdermal patch of rivastigmine from Novartis. Indicated for the use with patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's related dementia. The oral formulation was FDA approved in 2000 and approval for mile to moderate dementia in July 2007.
- AZOR - for the treatment of hypertension from Daiichi Sankyo. A combination drug that achieved greater reduction in blood pressure than either drug alone, FDA approval was granted in September 2007.
- EvaMist - indicated for use by women experiencing menopause. A small, easy to use, hand held applicator that delivers a pre-set metered dose of estradoil into the bloodstream over 24 hours. EvaMist received FDA approval in July 2007.
- Yondelis - developed by PharmaMar for patients that have not reposonded to previous regimes in the treatment of soft tissue sarcoma
- Tasigna - an orally available inhibitor of Bcr-Abl, c-Kit, PDGF-R and related receptor tyrosine kinases for the potential treatment of various types of leukemia from Novartis. Approved in Switzerland, it is waiting on FDA approval.
