
FiercePharma has compiled a list of the top 10 drugs to have who have had approval either withdrawn or been forced to add stronger warning labels, by the FDA, with respect to their pharmaceutical products. The list is based on 2006 worldwide sales so ranking does not necessarily include the big news makers.
1. Antidepressants - Various companies
- "Black" box warning regarding increased risk of suicidal thoughts.
2. Epogen/Aranesp - Amgen
- "Black" box warning of heart and vascular risk at higher doses
3. Zyprexa - Lilly
- Warning of weight gain and metabolic problems
4. Avandia - Glaxo
- "Black" box warning of heart failure and heart attack
5. Actos - Takeda
- "Black" box warning of heart failure
6. Provigil - Cephalon
- Waning of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and psychiatric problems
7. Zelnorm - Novartis
- Recalled due to heart risks
8. Byetta - Amylin
- Warning of pancreatitis
9. Xolair - Genentech
- "Black" box warning of anaphalaxis
10. Fentora - Cephalon
- Warning that impoper dosing can lead to death
