
Last but not least is Schering-Plough who falls 15th on the r&d budget list ($1.65 bn EUR) and 16th in over all sales for 2006. After a number of bad years Schering has put itself back in the running with various moves that have revitalized its drug pipeline. Those moves include the purchase of Azko Nobel’s Organon which added five late-stage drugs to the pipeline. Also, the FDA recently accepted Schering’s application for asenapine which is indicated for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
