Accentia Biopharmaceuticals announced that its SinuNase has failed to meet the main goal of a late-stage clinical trial.
SinuNase which was a potential treatment for chronic sinusitis did not achieve te required level of statistical difference when compared to results of a placebo.
Accentia expects to have complete data from the clinical trial in April and said at that point it will analyze all date from both the primary and secondary endpoints to determine what steps will be required to further advance the product.
Expectations for the new drug were high with positive reports circulating only 2 weeks ago with Med Ad News giving it a cover story and "Future Blockbuster" status.
