Stock Market Fluctuations in Big Pharmas as of October 19, 2007
Company Name, Symbol, Share Price, Change
I thought I'd look back and see where these top pharma companies were standing, stock price-wise, 4 months ago. As you can all see it's not a very pretty picture.
Abbott is the only stock that has retained its value. The others have all decreased with NVS and PFE having the smallest decreases. Both are down in the $2-$3 range. Hardest hit have been AZN down more than $14, SAN down $13.50, MRK down just over $12, GSK just under $10 and BMS and LLY down between $8 and $9.
With the new IMS report out stating that sales growth was down in 2007 by over 4% from 2006 the effects are obviously being reflected in stock prices. Add in lawsuits, FDA recalls and patent loss and overall not a good time for pharmaceutical stocks.
